These paddles are smaller than a tennis racket but larger than a ping-pong paddle. You will also need a perforated plastic ball, similar to a wiffle ball, which is designed to move more slowly through the air.
Proper footwear is the most important part of your attire. You should wear court shoes specifically designed for lateral movement. Understanding the Court Layout

The community surrounding pickleball is known for being social and welcoming. It is standard practice to introduce yourself to your partners and opponents before the match starts. At the end of every game, players meet at the net to tap paddles and acknowledge a good game. If a ball from a neighboring court rolls onto yours, immediately stop play and call a let to ensure everyone stays safe.
